In an interview with Happy Sad Confused, MTV's podcast, the Russo brothers revealed that Langford, 23, better known for his role in the aforementioned Netflix series, and the 2018 independent film, Love, Simon, were chosen for the teenage version of Stark and Potts daughter Morgan, who plays in Avengers: Endgame of Lexi Rabe, 6 years old. Langford was supposed to appear as Morgan's future personality to Tony in a vision, but his role was finally dropped as it was confusing for test audiences.
"There was an idea that Tony [Stark] was about to go into the metaphysical way in which Thanos went when he snapped his fingers [at the end of Avengers: Infinity War]," said Joe Russo at MTV. "There would be a future version of [Tony’s] girl in this station. We showed it to a test audience and it was really confusing for them.
As Joe notes, Thanos went to the so-called "metaphysical station" when he snapped his fingers, where he met a younger version of Gamora, had been introduced earlier as part of an earlier flasback in Infinity War. The directors also had similar ideas with Tony and Morgan, with the exception of his future, but that did not work because Endgame never introduced Future-Morgan.
"What we understood was that we did not feel an emotional badociation with the adult version of her daughter," said Anthony Russo. "It did not affect us emotionally, that's why we moved away from it."
