Fans had their first official look at Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva Wonder Woman 1984 today thanks to an image shared by director Patty Jenkins. Now, the background location in this image has been confirmed.
In the picture, Barbara Minerva of Wiig – who will be the villain of the Wonder Woman continued – is seen dressed in a lovely 1980s style standing in what appears to be a museum by observing some of the displays of what looks like African animals. While the film's production was taking place in Washington DC, some fans speculated that the museum might be one of the Smithsonian's museums and it turns out these fans were right. Photographer Clay Enos, who took the photo shared by Jenkins, shared the same image on Vero's social network, marking the National Museum of Natural History. Check it below.

The frame of the museum for the image corresponds to the story of Barbara Minerva's comic book. In each incarnation of the character, Barbara has a connection to the artifacts – usually as an archaeologist – and although the photograph gives no hints about how Wonder Woman 1984 will approach the character or here the eventual transformation into cheetah, earlier this month, it was reported that she will start as Diana's friend before becoming her enemy. This description seems to harmonize most closely with the most recent version of the character, especially in the stories of Greg Rucka and Rebirth of Liam Sharp. In this version, Barbara Minerva was an archaeologist who was characterized as the best friend of Diana Prince, but who was unfortunately cursed by the god Urzkartaga leading his transformation into Cheetah and one of the greatest enemies of Wonder Woman .
As for knowing when fans will see more than this image of Wiig's character, it may not be too far. Some reports have hinted that fans of San Diego's Comic-Con next month could be treated to the first image of Wonder Woman 1984 alongside the first trailers for Aquaman and Shazam!
