Backstage Update on the WWE Title

[ad_1]

After all, it looks like Kofi Kingston is getting the WWE title from champion Daniel Bryan.

We had already noted, via Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, that Kofi was not the choice of Bryan's next challenger. Monday morning. WWE has confirmed that Bryan's opponent for the WWE Fastlane will be announced tonight at SmackDown, departing from New Orleans.

In an update, Meltzer announced that the change of plan had occurred Monday afternoon and that Kingston was now the favorite of Bryan Fastlane's opponent at tonight's SmackDown. Based on Kofi's performance at last Tuesday's Gauntlet Match match and his performances at Sunday's Elimination Chamber, it was decided to modify his plans and to badociate Kingston with Bryan at Fastlane.

As we noted, the Q Arena was announcing a WWE title: Triple Threat for the March 10 Fastlane payout, Bryan defending against Samoa Joe and AJ Styles. We do not know yet what Joe and Styles are going to do at Fastlane now.

It is also unclear to what extent Kingston vs. Bryan will affect the plans for the WWE title at WrestleMania 35. As noted above, Bryan will defend his title against a Superstar who returns or returns for the most great show of the year, instead of being a regular member of the list of blue brands.

Stay tuned for updates on the WWE title and do not forget to join us for live coverage of SmackDown at 8 pm ET tonight.
