Shantanu Srivastava and Akshat Ghildial authors from Badhaai Ho withdrew their name from the 2019 Filmfare Awards. The authors, along with Jyoti Kapoor, were nominated in the Best Original Story category.
Shantanu and Akshat chose Twitter to clarify the reason.
In the statement, Shantanu and Akshat said they would not share the price with someone (Jyoti) who did not work on the film with them.

Amit Sharma, director of Badhaai Ho, spoke to an entertainment website about the problem. "My intention behind this film was to propagate happiness and not to conclude it with controversy.The media are today strong and open and I appreciate it, but it is amazing how much it is is easy to manipulate and confuse people via social media networks.What I am going to say is in black and white, there is no gray.Badhaai Ho came out in October 2018, written by Akshat and Shantanu, Ms. Jyoti Kapoor has nothing to do with the story or script that was transcribed in the film.
He adds, "What is appalling is that no one has contacted me for ask me for clarification. A director would know that [as to] had written the film he directed. I have met Ms. Jyoti so far and I have never read the text of Hum Do Humare Char, which, according to her, looks like Badhaai Ho. Jyoti had the same idea in a line that I did not know until I knew the same thing about Junglee Pictures: the film industry is brutal and ruthless and unlike the business sector, there is a lot of work in parallel with the hard work that we put. "
He then added," I know Akshat and Shantanu since their formation, they have been faithful to the art and [are] diligent in their work, but they have never been cheaters. Filmfare is one of the largest recognition platforms for artists in the Indian film industry and makes it a brand name. If Ms. Jyoti really contributed to Badhaai Ho's script, I beg her to publicly express herself with her script and end this confusion once and for all. "
Badhaai Ho presents Ayushmann Khurrana, Neena Gupta and Gajraj Gao, Surekha Sikri and Sanya Malhotra play a central role.The film has been hailed by critics and the public, with revenues of more than 221 million rupees in the world against a budget of 29 million rupees, it is among the most profitable films of Bollywood in 2018.
