The organizers, who were defeated in their last round of trials in the West Indies in July, made five changes in the absence of injured multi-purpose player Shakib al Hasan and drummer Tamim Iqbal.
Khaled, 26, was selected with drummer Mohammad Mithun, Nazmul Islam, and versatile Ariful Haque, who has not yet made his debut as a Test.
Fast thrower Mustafizur Rahman also returned to the test squad after missing the Caribbean series with an ankle injury.
Fast bowlers Rubel Hossain, Kamrul Islam and Nurul Hasan have made way for the newcomers.
"We have selected the best team available because this series is important to us," chief selector Minhajul Abedin told reporters in Chittagong.
Khaled excelled during the tour of the team led by a team from Ireland to Bangladesh in August, picking up 10 wickets in a five – game series of one day.
The fast bowler celebrated his call with the test team with his first booty at Wicket during a first-clbad national match on Thursday.
"We have been looking after him for some time in our high performance unit and he is the fastest of our bowlers," said Minhajul.
Mahmudullah Riyadh will lead the team in the absence of the test captain, Shakib.
The second test will take place in Dhaka from 11 to 15 November.
Bangladesh has only won 10 of its 108 tests since its full status in 2000. It has failed to score 200 points in its last six innings.
