The latest film by director Zoya Akhtar, Gully Boy, makes the right kind of noise before it's released. Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt are about to become a super movie. They are considered one of the "best Hindi films ever made" and are critically acclaimed by some of the world's leading publications.
The film tells his journey through music, based on the life of a rapper born in the shantytowns of Mumbai 'Dharavi. He fights the world with words and poetic tunes born of his own experiences. However, to bring the character to the screen, Zoya is inspired by several talented artists who are trying (or have already) to star on the Indian hip-hop circuit. From Divine to Naezy, the singers and their lives have strongly influenced the story that Zoya finally told the world.
Rapper MC Altaf and his family
Before the release of Gully Boy, the producers had shared videos of seven rappers from all over India. The shorts once again show the world their talents, their lives, their families, their cities and everything they sing. There are Naezy, Spitfire, Altaf MC, KR $ NA, Sharma Dub, Kaam Bhari and Dee MC.
These rappers come from Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Kandivali, Dharavi, Chhatarpur and Kalyan. The videos are all incredibly shot and show the rapper in their hometowns and their own gullies. From breathtaking towers and subways of the cyber-city of Gurgaon to the narrow, quiet streets of Chhatarpur, the videos take viewers to the world where rappers live and create their art.
