Bengali veteran actor Chinmoy Roy dies at the age of 79

Former Bengali actor Chinmoy Roy breathed his last breath at 79 hours on Sunday, March 17, 2019, around 10:20 pm, after suffering a heart attack, at his Salt Lake home, sources said. Roy is survived by two children, his son and daughter. Chinmoy Roy's wife, Jui Banerjee, was also dead. He was born in Kumilla district, Bangladesh, in 1940. Roy began his career in Bengali cinema in the 1960s. Even though he has interpreted various roles, his cartoon characters have been highly appreciated by the Bengali public, while retaining the essence of his culture.

It had been featured with renowned actors such as Soumitra Chatterjee and Rabi Ghosh in a clbadic comedy like Basanta Bilap or Dhonni Meye. Chinya was also chosen by Satyajit Ray for a cameo as a spy working for Halla's minister, in the Goopy children's film Gyne Bagha Byne. His character Tenyda in the film Charmurti is unforgettable. It became a major success in the 1980s.

An unfortunate incident had occurred previously when the actor had been found lying on the ground floor. – building in the south of Kolkata, by neighbors.
