Noted filmmaker Karan Johar took everyone by surprise when he recently announced his next production, which happens to be the movie Bhoot: Part One – The Haunted Ship. This horror film stars Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles. The film shares its name with the clbadic Ram Gopal Varma, released in 2003. The first poster of the upcoming film has already been shared on social networks, showing Vicky Kaushal, terrified, scrutinizing the sinking of a ship. while a demonic hand holds his neck.
Karan Johar has produced a number of films, mostly of the dramatic and romantic genre. He has also produced action films like Simmba and mystery films like Ittefaq. So, Bhoot: Part One – The Haunted Ship will be a kind of subversion for the producer because it happens to be a supernatural thriller. However, this film is not the first horror company produced under the banner of Dharma Productions. Karan has already co-produced a film titled Kaal with Shah Rukh Khan in 2005.
Kaal happens to be a horror film directed by Sohum Shah and presented by Vivek Oberoi, Ajay Devgn, John Abraham and Esha Deol. and Lara Dutta in the lead roles. The film, however, was an average box-office artist. It remains to be seen whether Karan Johar's next horror venture will be successful or not. Bhoot: Part One – The Haunted Vessel was directed by Bhanu Pratap Singh and is scheduled for release on November 15, 2019.
