The BJP alone received 167,167 crore or 86.59% of the total donations received. political parties in 2017-18 belonging to Electoral Trusts, which are not-for-profit corporations incorporated for political financing.

According to a report of the Association for Democratic Reforms or ADR issued Wednesday, four other parties – the Congress, Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Party of Nationalist Congress (NCP) and National Conference of Jammu-and- Kashmir (JKNC) – Collectively received 25.98 crores of rupees during the same period.

In the last fiscal year (2016-17), the BJP received 290,290 rupees. 89.22% of total donations received by all political parties from election trusts.

There are currently 22 registered electoral trusts formed by various houses and industrial enterprises.
