Aziz, known for his love for Mohammad Rafi, began his musical career in Kolkata and then Mumbai.

His first big breakthrough took place with the film Mard, with the song Mard Taangewala, with Amitabh Bachchan.

In 2016, Mohammad Aziz posted a moving video starring Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar for his film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. In the film, Anushka Sharma had a dialogue titled "Mohammad Rafi gaate kam the, rote zyada the."
