British PM loses key vote on Brexit procedure in Parliament

LONDON: The British government was defeated on Wednesday in Parliament as legislators voted in favor of a change of procedure reducing the time needed to develop an alternative plan if Prime Minister Theresa agreed May on the Brexit was rejected next week.

Defeat 308-297 attempts to force the government to return within three business days to Parliament with Plan B, instead of the 21 days specified in the Brexit Act. It is unlikely that the change removes the 21-day legal deadline, but adds political pressure.
