June 27 (UPI) – The Broward County School Board in Florida voted to put an armed guard on every campus in the district with the exception of charter schools.
Tuesday's decision comes nearly five months after an armed man killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, who was spurring for a law of 39 state that required additional security in state public schools.
The board's decision clarifies how the Broward County School Board will comply with the law and provides more details on the funding, which board member Robin Bartleman said did not describe in the law. l & # 39; State.

Although most schools in the district already have armed police, the decision requires at least one additional armed security officer. There is still a debate about whether the armed guards' weapon will be hidden.

To help pay for the initiative, the council also voted to put a referendum on a ballot in August to raise property taxes. Homeowners with a house valued at the average cost of a home in the area – $ 239,000 – would pay $ 119 more in the first year.
