NEW DELHI: Blame Reliance Jio for the financial difficulties of the telecommunications sector, the BSNL employee unions said on Wednesday that the government favored the newcomer compared to other companies and announced an indefinite strike from 3 December.

The employee unions claimed that the government had not allocated 4G service spectrum to BSNL in order to prevent it from competing with Reliance Jio.

Reliance Jio did not comment on the allegations.

"At the present time, the entire telecommunications industry is facing a crisis … All this is due to the predatory price of Reliance Jio, owned by Mukesh Ambani. Reliance Jio must clear its competitors, which includes the public company BSNL ", said the unions of the BSNL in a joint statement.

All BSNL unions and badociations (AUAB) claimed that Reliance Jio, with its huge financial power, offered services at "below cost" rates. Private telecommunications companies like Aircel, Tata Teleservices, Reliance Communications, owned by Anil Ambani, and Telenor have already closed their mobile phone services business.

He alleged that Reliance Jio would significantly increase call and data rates once all competition had been eliminated.

"This will plunder the population by dramatically increasing the cost of calls and data.It is extremely worrying that Reliance Jio is openly patronized by the Narendra Modi government," the statement said.

No immediate comment has been received from the Prime Minister's Office. AUAB stated that the public sector company had requested the allocation of the 4G spectrum but that "the government turned a deaf ear to this request, with the ultimate goal of preventing the public sector company from competing to Reliance Jio ".

All BSNL officers and workers begin an indefinite strike as of December 3, 2018, said AUAB.

"The strike claims include the immediate allocation of the 4G spectrum to BSNL for the deployment of its 4G service, the implementation of the government rule regarding the payment of pension contributions by BSNL, the revision of the salaries of employees and the revision of pensions of retirees, from 1 January 2017, "said the statement.

She also alleged that anyone attempting to act against Reliance Jio had to pay the price, including former Secretary of Telecommunications, JS Deepak.

"JS Deepak wrote to the Trai asking that Reliance Jio take action for the adoption of predatory pricing. As a result, JS Deepak was instantly driven out of the DoT … it's a clear signal from the Narendra Modi government, to what would happen to anyone who would dare to speak against RIiance Jio, "said the unions.

Deepak was appointed Ambbadador of India to the World Trade Organization (WTO) when he was abroad to attend the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Spain.

The unions stated that BSNL was losing more than Rs 8,800 crore in 2011-2012 but that due to the combined efforts of the employees and the management, the UAP has made a profit of 39, exploitation of 672.57 crores of rupees in 2014-2015. .

"The improved performance of BSNL is also reflected in the broadening of its customer base It should be remembered that all these achievements are realized by BSNL without 4G technology and with only 2G and 3G technologies, while all private companies are armed with 4G technology, "the statement said.

In addition to the distribution of the 4G spectrum, the UAAB also requests the implementation of the government's rule on the payment of pension contributions by BSNL.

"It is atrocious that the Narendra Modi government is violating its own rule and throwing a huge sum each year at BSNL in the name of Pension Pension, which seriously affects the financial health of the Society," the unions said.
