Borah claimed that Garg also insulted singer Bhupen Hazarika in his song. Hazarika was posthumously awarded Bharat Ratna on Republic Day.

"I have no personal problem with Zubin Garg, but his way of behaving can not be accepted for a healthy and cultured Assamese society," wrote Borah on Facebook. "If you think for society, be with the cause. Thank you.

The Sri Lankan police station officer, Srimanta Sarmah, confirmed that a complaint had been filed against Garg, reported The Indian Express . "We registered the FIR this morning," he said. "The case is registered under sections 294, 500 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code, and section 67 of the Information Technology Act."
