HBO has multiple earlier spin-offs from Game of Thrones in works that are expected to debut in the future. The prequel would take place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones which had concluded its eight seasons season in May.
In Northern Ireland, the filming of the much-anticipated spin-off series has recently begun in Northern Ireland. This theater has been the center of production of the original fantasy drama throughout its execution. Entertainment Weekly recently spoke to author George RR Martin, who is behind the upcoming series alongside narrator Jane Goldman, about what fans can expect before the start of the series.
Martin has revealed that the Stark family, the driving force of the Game of Thrones series, will be partly part of the previous story.
"The Starks will definitely be here," confirmed Martin. "Clearly, the White Walkers are here – or as they are called in my books, The Others – and that will be an aspect of it – there are things like werewolves and mammoths.
He adds, "The Lannisters are not there yet, but Casterly Rock is certainly there, it's like the Rock of Gibraltar," Martin said. "In fact, he's busy with the Casterlys – for which he still bears the name of the Game of Thrones era."
The author also gave intriguing clues about the state of Westeros at that time.
"We are talking about the seven kingdoms of Westeros; there were seven kingdoms at the time of the conquest of Aegon, "said the author." But if you go back further, there are nine kingdoms and 12 kingdoms, and you end up back to a hundred kingdoms – small kingdoms – and that's the time we're talking about here. "
Martin had already told Entertainment Weekly that "Westeros is a very different place" in the series, compared to Westeros fans who are aware of Game of Thrones .
"There is no landing of the king There is no iron throne There is no Targaryen Valyria has barely begun to get up with his dragons and the great empire he's built. We are dealing with a different and older world and hope that will be part of the fun of the series, "he added.
Naomi Watts of King Kong are famous in the series, alongside Naomi Ackie and Denise Gough. The show will also feature Miranda Richardson, Josh Whitehouse, Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim, Ivanno Jeremiah, Alex Sharp and Toby Regbo.
While HBO had not yet confirmed the official title of the series, Martin announced last year that it would be called "The Long Night" title of the third episode of the last season of GoT.
