Salman Khan is only days after the shooting of 'Dabangg 3', and it seems that he has already been in a delicate situation. According to reports, photos of a Shivling covered with wooden planks while shooting his movie "Dabangg 3" surfaced on social media on Thursday.

Salman Khan, who is shooting for the film in the religious city of Maheshwar in Madhya Pradesh, subsequently issued a clarification and said that the Shivling was covered with wooden planks to protect the idol and preserve its sacredness.

The film set was created on the banks of the Narmada at Maheshwar.

The photographs, viral on social media, sparked a war of words between the ruling Congress and the main opposition party, the BJP.

In a statement, BJP deputy of Huzur in Bhopal district, Rameshwar Sharma, said that religious sentiments against Hindus have been hurt since the formation of the Congress government led by Kamal Nath last December .

He requested the registration of a FIR for the perpetrators of the incident, claiming that he lacked respect towards Lord Shiva.

Speaking to reporters, Shobha Oza, head of the Congress Media Department, said the BJP leaders had a "narrow state of mind".

"We are not obliged to respond to Sharma's statement, but because of the narrow mentality of BJP leaders, the state has not witnessed any development over the past fifteen years of party rule, "she said.

Jitu Patwari, head of the Congress and Minister of Sport and Youth Protection of Madhya Pradesh, defended the famous Bollywood superstar and attacked the saffron group.

"Salman is a great actor who has always spread the message of religious harmony, but the BJP's thinking is full of hate and this party wants to take advantage of politics by creating enmity among peoples.

"The BJP should give up this kind of mentality and stop creating obstacles in the development of the state," said Patwari.

Salman Khan, hurt by the controversy, appeared before the media in Maheshwar and issued a clarification.

According to local media reports, the Bollywood star stated that the wooden planks had been kept on the Shivling – in order to protect it and preserve its sacredness during filming. Later, the planks were removed, he said.

Since Monday, Salman Khan has been shooting for the movie, the third installment of the franchise 'Dabangg', while actress Sonakshi Sinha has started shooting since Thursday.
