About HT, exhibitor Akshaye Rathi expressed confidence that the film would be a hit among the public. He had stated: "It is a movie that addresses to huge social strata. It should appeal to children and seniors and should work well in single screens, multiplexes and tier 2 and 3 cities, representing a huge market share. He is a director who has succeeded most often.
Total Dhamaal arrived a week after Ranveer Singh and Gully Boy of Alia Bhatt, who continues to perform well at the box office. The film has already crossed the 100 Rs crore bar at the national box office.
When asked if Total Dhamaal and Gully Boy had an impact on their box office receipts, Rathi replied, "Not at all. Gully Boy's multiplexed public address, while Total Dhamaal is aimed at the mbades. "

Total Dhamaal is the third installment of the hit series Dhamaal. Directed by Indra Kumar, the film brings back the superhit couple of Anil and Madhuri after 19 years. The main characters include Riteish Deshmukh, Jaaved Jaaferi, Johnny Lever, Boman Irani and Sanjai Mishra. The film was also controversial because the re-created song Mungda starring Sonakshi Sinha was not much appreciated by the authors of the original issue of Helen. Lata Mangeshkar also was strongly opposed to the remixed version of an old tube.
