With the resounding success of Aquaman and the excitement of this week's first Birds of Prey teaser, it looks like the DC film world is finally back on track. The studio has now added two new movies to its schedule, with The Batman's confirmed release dates and Suicide Squad's reboot, The Suicide Squad.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Batman will be released on June 25. 2021, while The Suicide Squad will be released on August 6 of the same year. In addition, Warner has confirmed the release of a new film titled DC Super Pets, which will focus on the pets of various DC heroes. This will happen on May 21, 2021.

The news of the release of The Batman follows comments by director Matt Reeves earlier this week, in which he described the film as "a black Batman tale inspired by sight." The film has been in development for several years and was originally intended to be directed and starring Ben Affleck. Although Affleck has not been officially replaced by Batman, it is thought that the role will be recast for the new film. Affleck himself tweeted that he was "excited" for The Batman, hinting that he would not be there.

As for The Suicide Squad, this is not a sequel to the 2017 film, but a new version written by James Gunn. DC hired Gunn to work on the screenplay in October, following his departure from Guardians of Marvel's Galaxy Vol.3. THR also reports that Gunn is in negotiations to lead, and that he "will bring the franchise into a new direction with an essentially new cast of characters and actors."

Before we get to that, there are several new CDs. the films should be released in the next two years. Shazam! arrives in April, while the month of October will see the release of Joker, which stars Joaquin Phoenix and focuses on the beginning of the life of the iconic evil DC. Birds of Prey arrives in February 2020, while Wonder Woman 1984 is released in July of the same year.
