Film Name: De Pyaar From
Actor: Ajay Devgn, Tabu
Director: Akiv Ali
Imagine that. A hottie of 26 years organizes an evening between singles posing as a stripper. But before she puts her hands on the groom, they are broken by the bride and her friends. After addressing the initial chaos, she gets drunk at the same party and wakes up in the 50-year-old girlfriend's girlfriend's room.
This is how Aisha (Rakul Preet) and Ashish (Ajay Devgn) meet for the first time. If you think this is not lame, weird and a bit difficult to digest, director Akiv Ali casts logic out of the window by making Aisha and Ashish dance at the same guy's wedding, the one-night party, Aisha, s is crushed on the last stroke. Yes, and all this happens only five minutes after the beginning of the movie.
Akiv Ali is a 50-year-old London-based investment broker who falls in love with a 26-year-old black-labor engineer. bartender at the weekend. Although the obvious age gap removes them from a certain time, they quickly yield to temptation and the rest, as they say, belong to history. In this case, it's a pretty painful chapter.
A few pillow fights, mbadages and later shopping sprees, Ashish decides on a whim to meet Aisha his ex-wife Manju (Tabu) and his two children [who are almost the same age as his current flame] in India. But hell is unleashed when he seeks to obtain the approval of his former family.
Affirmed as a rom-com, De De Pyaar begins on an ugly note. The first half is a potpourri of clichés stuffed with heavy flirtations, some two-way dialogue, harmless flirtation and a touch of romance. Served cold with humor.
The De De Pyaar De script is as confusing as the story itself. Ali fails miserably to find a balance between a love story of modern Kewl and ancestral moral values
After a meticulously predictable first half, the film regains strength after the intermission with Tabu and Jimmy Sheirgill playing the real thieves of television series this film otherwise way. Ajay Devgn, who is not new in the genre of comedy, fits the bill of a 50-year-old man in love with a girl under his age.
On the other hand, Rakul Preet is pure distraction. to give all the depth to his character. It is worth noting that Ajay and Rakul enjoy maximum screen space in De De Pyaar De, but that is Tabu who is the true hero and heroine of this rom -com. She enlightens every frame of her presence and her comedic timing is par excellence in De De Pyaar's. Jimmy Sheirgill as an admirer of Tabu adds comic relief to this dull tale. Although his role is only a cameo, the actor makes it a memorable one.
De De Pyaar De is a bag filled with clichés. Manufacturers are failing miserably to evolve the story beyond a one-line scenario. Go see De Pyaar only if you are a fan of Tabu.
