India woke up today with tragic news of the death of the famous playwright, actor and theater personality Girish Karnad. The veteran breathed his last breath to his home in Bengaluru after being sick for a few days now. Fans, colleagues and celebrities from across the country lamented the disappearance of Girish Karnad, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Girish Karnad has appeared in many movies in several languages including Bollywood and has shared screen space with actors such as Salman Khan, Venkatesh and many others. The co-star of Girish Karnad in the Telugu movie, Dharma Chakram Venkatesh Daggubati, wrote an emotional note and shared a regression picture with the veteran who remembered him. "It was a wonderful experience to share a screen with you, to work with you, my deepest condolences to the family members, May your soul rest in peace, sir!" #GirishKarnad [sic]"wrote Venkatesh, I am his message on Instagram. Karnad had been sick for a while and had been treated for a while. After a long illness, the veteran breathed late today in the wee hours of the morning. Many Indian film and theater celebrities have lamented the pbading of the prominent playwright who has been held in high esteem across the country. Girish Karnad is a recipient of the Jnanapith Award and was also conferred with Padma Bhushan in 1992. The fellow was also a Rhodes Scholar, which helped him to obtain a master's degree in philosophy, economics and political science.
