Kannada theater's personality master, Hirannaiah, died in the city on May 2 in the morning. He was 85 years old and was suffering from a liver complication. Hospitalized at BGS Global Hospital, he died on the morning of May 2, sources said.
Narasimha Murthy, originally from Mysuru, was the son of another theatrical drama, K. Hirannaiah, who founded K. Hirannaiah Mitra Mandali. Making his stage debut as a child, he then called Master Hirannaiah, a name that remained unchanged.
After the death of his father, he took over the troupe K. Hirannaiah Mitra Mandali and directed it to this day. His son Babu Hirannaiah now leads the troupe.
Master Hirannaiah was well known for his harsh criticism of the political clbad plunged into humor on stage from the late 1960s. His hit play "Lanchavatara" had a free form in which Master Hirannaiah included a commentary on the politics of the day, making the play new at every staging.
The troupe staged Lanchavatara from 1959 and went through more than 11,000 shows. The play had the state's political clbad heavily criticized repeatedly over the past six decades.
Hirannaiah was also known for his other plays – Makmal Topi, Anaachara, Bhrashtachara and Devadasi.
