Director J J Radhakrishnan dies at age 60 after a heart attack

The well-known Malayalam director of photography, MJ Radhakrishnan, died Friday in a private hospital as a result of a heart attack.

The famous Malayalam filmmaker MJ Radhakrishnan died in a private hospital on Friday after a heart attack, he left behind his wife, his son and his daughter. This 60-year-old cameraman suffered a cardiac arrest at his home and died while he was going to the hospital.

From his photography career, Radhakrishnan later worked as a renowned badociate

Shaji N Karun, director of photography turned director. His well-received works include, Deshadanam, Karunam and Naalu Pennungal .

Radhakrishnan has won three international awards in addition to being seven-time winner of the Kerala State Award for Best Photography.

His films have been screened at several major film festivals around the world, including Cannes, Toronto, Chicago, Rhode Island and Rotterdam. One of his works, Marana Simhasanam (The Throne of Death in French), won the Golden Camra (Gold Camera Award) in the section Un Certain Regard from the 1999 Cannes Film Festival.

Radhakrishnan had worked for more than 75 feature films and several documentaries, and was badociated with some of the most important Indian filmmakers, including Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Nair Murali, Shaji N. Karun, Chandran TV, Dr. Biju, Jayaraj and Renjith.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed his condolences on the death of Radhakrishnan and said that the industry had lost its vigor.
