Developed on The Astronomical Budget more than Rs 360 crore, 2.0 is considered the most expensive production in the history of India. Recently, a little more money, which would have been in the order of Rs 100 crore, has been injected into the production in order to improve the quality of the VFX according to advanced standards. Even the satellite rights of the film were sold to ZEE at a crore of Rs 110, which is the highest amount in terms of regional cinema.
In 2.0 Rajinikanth will resume his ] Enthiran avatar as Dr. Vaseegaran and the robot Chitti, while Akshay Kumar will attempt the antagonistic part of the evil scientist Dr. Richard. The film also marks the debut of Akshay in the Tamil film industry.
The actress Amy Jackson will also be seen in the film in a central part that has been kept secret until now. Apart from these three, 2.0 is also performed by Sudhanshu Pandey, Adil Hussain, Kalabhavan Shajohn and Riyaz Khan.
The music of the film was composed by AR Rahman; the directors of the film had a great audio launch in Dubai in October 2017.
