BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday recorded a record turnout of 75 percent of those surveyed in the state badembly polls, marred by complaints from vice presidents of the BJP in search of a fourth consecutive term in a fierce fight against an invigorating Congress. a return after 15 years.

Polling stations in the state were marred by complaints about faulty electronic voting machines (EVM) and paper-checking machines by the voter (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail).

The Chief Electoral Officer of the State, VL Kantha Rao, told the press that 1,145 MVE and 1,545 VVPAT had been replaced following complaints of technical problems.

About 2.5% (polling stations) were replaced, Rao added, adding that this percentage was about 2% in other states where elections were held recently.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, seeking a fourth term, and his wife, Sadhana Singh, voted in his hometown, Jait, which is part of the constituency of his Budhni badembly.
