Just before the Lok Sabha elections in Mumbai, there was a list of Bollywood celebrities who could not vote this year. Among them was Akshay Kumar, a Canadian citizen. The actor never hesitated to accept this fact and was very open about it. Considering that he was applauded for his patriotic performances in Bollywood movies, many netizens felt that it was unfair. This aversion took a step further when the actor was heavily beaten on social media for his Canadian citizenship. His friend and director Rohit Shetty Sooryavanshi recently expressed his thoughts on this in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama
In a recent interview granted to Bollywood Hungama Rohit Shetty asked about the work with Akshay Kumar in Sooryavanshi in which he also spoke about trolls in progress where internet users slam the actor Pad Man for possession of a Canadian pbadport. The filmmaker said, "It's only three or four days. That does not change the fact that he is Akshay Kumar and he will always stay the same. He does not only work for Bharat Ke Veer, but also works for other social causes that he does not like to make public. All this [troll] will end in the coming days. In the next 48 hours, there will be another "bakra" [scapegoat] on Facebook and Twitter. Something new will happen! Each individual tries to prove that others are wrong to prove that he is right.
He adds: "Twitter itself is in a loss if I can tell you. Instagram is bigger than Twitter. Nobody works on the company. no one works on the depth. People are just afraid that we will be controlled or that something else will be, and so on. Someone else was checked four days ago; someone else will be monitored four days later! Four days, people would have forgotten: what Akshay Kumar, what citizenship! I say it on the record!
Rohit Shetty also appreciated Akshay Kumar's work ethic and claimed that he did not leave the scenery of Sooryavanshi as long as he was not invited to do so.
