Many Thursday hockey fans went on a rampage at the Kalinga stadium after they could not get tickets for the inaugural Men's World Cup ice hockey tournament. November 27, announced the police.

The incident took place at the Gate 9 gate of the stadium, where people had long been waiting in line for tickets.

They became furious when the wicket was not opened for hours. The crowd then broke the barricade and searched the wicket, police officials said.

Anup Sahoo's DCP stated that the crowd had been driven out.

Previously, the Department of Sports and Youth had announced that the tickets for the inaugural session would be sold from November 15.

The Men's World Cup will be held at the Kalinga stadium from November 28 to December 16.

Sports and Youth Secretary, Vishal Dev, said that tickets for the event, including the inaugural ceremony will only be available online.

A notification in this regard will be issued in a day or two, he added.
