Whew! We can finally take a deep breath now that all the tension accumulated since the New Year has been released with a formidable Direct. It had been a long time since we had Smash Bros. and Nintendo was not disappointed (unless it was a poor fan of Metroid but more about it later).

There had been rumors of a 2D Zelda with Mario Maker's sequel, and some other rumors were true, with BOXBOY! + BOXGIRL! signaling the return of Qbby and Unravel Two arriving at Switch
Metroid fans might feel a little deflated after the rumors, but we imagine that it is still in the pipeline, and Bloodnained seems to be making good progress. There was a surprise announcement of Platinum Games in the form of Astral Chain and several other moments available on Nintendo eShop, including Final Fantasy IX Tetris 99 and co-op for two players for Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker .
