The prestigious Filmfare Awards were held Saturday night in Mumbai. The event took place at Jio Garden, Bandra Kurla Complex.

Meghna Gulzar's Raazi was the big winner with five trophies, including Best Film. Raazi was played by Alia Bhatt in the lead role. He was talking about an Indian spy infiltrated into Pakistani plans during the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. Alia also won the award for best actor in the lead role of the film.

Raazi also won the award in the categories of direction, performance, song and lyrics.

Sanjay Leela Padmaavat of Bhansali is second with four awards. The release and even the production of the film have been the subject of much controversy. It was always a critical and commercial success. It also earned Ranveer Singh an award for the role of Sultan Alauddin Khalji.
