The Indian film Most Wanted, starring Arjun Kapoor in the lead role, had a poor opening at the box office. The film started Friday at only 2.10 crores of rupees. The film was released the day after the election results of Lok Sabha. The film received a mixed response from critics. Hindustan Times' Raja Sen said about the movie: "Arjun Kapoor plays it subtly in a well-intentioned thriller, too remembered to be memorable. The idea on the bottom is good, but there are few effects that have an impact.
The film was directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, known for his suspense thrillers such as No One Killed Jessica, Aamir and Raid. Stating that the film is inspired by real events, Raj Kumar told Reuters: "I shot this film in its entirety, from Patna to Nepal, via Jaipur and Mumbai. The film also boasts of a recreated Vande Mataram hymn, sung by Papon and Altamash Faridi.
