First Look: Deepika Padukone in Meghna Gulzar's Chhapaak

Deepika Padukone's first look as a survivor of an acid attack and activist in her upcoming film, Chhapaak, is out. The project is led by Meghna Gulzar, who is working with Deepika for the first time. The character of Deepika calls Malti and the film is based on the inspiring and real story of Laxmi Agarwal.

Laxmi survived an acid attack at the age of 15 years. She was attacked by a man and his two friends because she had refused to do it. marry the old. Laxmi Agarwal was awarded the 2014 International Women of Courage Award by American First Lady Michelle Obama.

The filming of Chhapaak begins today in Delhi. The film is produced jointly by Fox Star Studios, Deepika Padukone's KA Entertainment and Meghna Gulzar's Mriga Films.

It would be the first production of Deepika under his banner.

Except for an appearance in Zero by Shah Rukh Khan, Chhapaak will have it mark the return to the big screen of Deepika Padukone after the Padmaavat of early 2018.

Meghna Gulzar's latest film, Raazi, with Alia Bhatt, was a critical and commercial success. He also dominated the awards season, even winning the Best Film Award at the recent Filmfare Awards.
