Travelers were faced with more and more flight problems on Monday as a winter storm ravaged flights across the Midwest.

Winter weather has compounded the problems that began on Sunday for air travelers, when more than 1,200 flights were canceled in the United States. Major airlines removed booking fees at several airports in the region.

On Monday, more than 700 flights were canceled nationally and 520 more delayed at 8:20 am ET, according to the FlightAware.com flight tracking service.

Most of these came from the Midwest, where the winter weather that began Sunday continued to affect the main hubs of the region.
