Former Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia charged with bribery and money laundering

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) – The former Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister has been charged with abuse of power, bribery and money laundering for millions of dollars in connection with of a new investigation for corruption on leaders ousted in the shock election results early in the year. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is now leading the opposition after his party was ousted in the May general election. He was brought to court Friday, a day after being detained by the anti-corruption agency. He pleaded not guilty to eight counts of abuse of power, ten breaches of trust and 27 counts of money laundering.
Former Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife were also accused of corruption after the elections.
