It has been a decade since composer AR Rahman made the country proud by winning not one, but two Oscars for his work in Slumdog Millionaire. He was awarded the 2009 Oscars in the Best Score and Best Original Song categories (Jai Ho, which he shared with the lyricist Gulzar).
Recently, the composer and the team of Slumdog Millionaire celebrated the 10th anniversary of the album. At the event, AR Rahman's daughter, Khatija Rahman, delivered an emotional speech. The father and the daughter expected little for the speech to become viral for all the wrong reasons.
Although Khatija's speech received many applause, he also invited the trolls, who called his father AR Rahman a hypocrite for "forcing" his daughter to wear a niqab (veil worn by some Muslim women).
AR Rahman was the best return of his attack. He shared a photo of his daughters Khatija, Raheema and his wife Sairaa with Nita Ambani. He subtitled the photo #freedomtochoose.

While we see Raheema dressed in a salwar adorned with pink, Khatija wore a burqa at the event.
The powerful photo clearly shows what Rahman is free to choose. & # 39 ;. Khatija, his daughter, wears a niqab that covers her face and hair. The other daughter of Rahman, Raheema, is seen without a veil or headgear, with open hair. His wife, Sairaa, is seen in a hijab, covering only his hair, during the event.
The photo of Rahman's family is still circulating and many people have come to support the composer of Sarvam Thaala Mayam.
Khatija, for his part, turned to Facebook to respond to these accusations.
She wrote, "I am a healthy adult minded adult who knows how to make my choices in life." Every human being has the choice to wear or do what he / she therefore please do not make your own opinion without understanding the exact situation #freedomofchoice. (sic) "
She also added that she was not expecting such an answer to her speech.
"The recent conversation that I had with my dad on stage went around, although I do not expect such an overwhelming response, but some comments have indicated that this garment was forced by my father and he has double standards.I would like to say that the outfit that I wear or the choices I make in my fe has nothing to do with my parents.The veil was my personal choice with complete acceptance and honor. (sic) "
At the event, Khatija said that she was really proud of her father and added that he had not not changed, especially after receiving the coveted Oscar.

Khatija told his father at the event: "Even though the whole world knows you for your music and the prize you have won, I have immense love and great respect for you because of the values they have taught us (three of his children) .Your humility matters most to me. Your character's atom has changed since you won the Oscar, nothing has changed in you in the last 10 years, with the exception of [that] the time that you have spent with us has been reduced.I think you're getting out now by taking us on short trips! "
