The end is almost here: Game of Thrones is coming to an end this weekend and we are looking into what to expect. You'll find below what HBO has offered us, but we'll also take a look at Young Griff in the books and at the fall of Daenerys in madness. One of these is expected to play a major role in the finale (hint: this is not Young Griff), who will seek to wrap up the series and perhaps give us an idea of who will sit on the iron throne. The long-awaited finale of the Game of Thrones series is only two days away. Season 8, Episode 6, will debut on HBO on Sunday, May 19, marking the end of this season in six episodes and the series as a whole that began in 2011. We've already got a preview, which debuted right after episode 5., and now HBO has released photos of the next episode – but they are a bit different from what we usually receive each week. There are still spoilers in Episode 5, but you can have a look there even if you do not want to know more about Episode 6.
HBO is usually pretty reluctant to spoil the next episode with his excerpts. These are not exactly modern trailers that give important moments and moments. The brief teaser of Episode 6 kept the details to a minimum, and now the preview photos do the same. They do not reveal anything that was not already in the trailer, and HBO shared only two two images, which is far less than what we usually see. It is clear that the network wants all that is about to become a surprise (although this does not solve the possibility of leaks, which have been a problem throughout the season).
The first of the two photos presents Tyrion, who can be. seen standing among the rubble at the king's landing. He does not seem particularly pleased, as one can expect. he placed his support behind Daenerys and believed in her. He even put his life in danger to free Jaime in the hope of preventing an innocent slaughter in the city. Dany has opted for the Mad Queen and Tyrion must now live with this reality as Varys has tried to put an end to his reality. (Although it is too late to save those who have died, Varys may have intended to poison Dany, which could make her reign over the head of Westeros.) More that to sound shocked, he looks deeply sad – although it remains to be seen if it is because Varys were right or because of new developments in episode 6.
The second photo is a photo of the trailer. Dany, standing victorious on the edges of the burning city, walks away from us, back to the camera while his army is forming all around her. If one wondered how many soldiers he had left after the fight of episode 3. It looks like she's doing very well in this regard.
His troops seem to support him thoroughly, and we know from the trailer: The Dothraki in particular seem satisfied with the outcome of the battle. But we still have not seen Dany's face in episode 6, or really, since she's made her fatal decision to destroy the city. Seeing if she has any remorse will have to wait until Sunday, although it is too late to cancel her actions. The queen of ashes is perhaps what she can hope for better. Whatever his attitude, his decision to burn everything (as his father, the crazy king, has already tried) confirmed that Game of Thrones was not what we thought.
In the meantime, we have Theory of Episode 6 on the origin of things in the finale and the distribution of events in Episode 5.
