"Game of Thrones" does not enter gently into this good night. HBO has released the run times of the six episodes of the eighth and final season and you must clear your DVR and / or your Sunday night.

The first two episodes will last a little less than an hour, the last four. the episodes are super-sized. The third will be the longest, one hour and 22 minutes; the fourth will score at 78 minutes; and the last two are estimated at 80 minutes each. The longest current episode of "Game of Thrones" is the final of Season 7, "The Dragon and the Wolf," which exceeded 79 minutes.

"Game of Thrones" is obviously an Emmy drama, but the new Emmy rules state that single entries (such as "Sherlock: The Abominable Bride") are episodes of anthology series (such as "Black Mirror"). "San Junipero" and "USS Callister") must now run at least 75 minutes to be eligible for the Best TV Movie Award. Imagine "Game of Thrones" shooting a "Black Mirror" with its final of the series. (This will not happen, but still.)

HBO also released the release dates, confirming that the episodes will air uninterrupted for six weeks immediately following its release on April 14. The episode titles have not been announced. As previously announced in 2017, the directors of season 8 are David Nutter Miguel Sapochnik and creators of series David Benioff and D.B. Weiss ; Benioff and Weiss drove the final of the series.
