The Abhayam Women's Hotline recently received a call from a 19-year-old mother an infant seeking help to get her husband's divorce because she wanted to live with her gaming partner.
The woman was addicted to the PUBG game (Players Unknown Battleground) and played with this partner every day.
Abhayam badigned a team of legal counsel who went to her home and talked to her and her family. They discovered that she was spending hours every day playing PUBG on her phone, which had created a break between her and the family.
Narendrasinh Gohil, project manager of the Abhayam 181 hotline, told The Indian Express that "about 90 had to be treated by a team of counselors" during home visits. He said it was the first call of its kind, while mothers generally complain about children who are dependent on PUBG.
The woman, who has a child under one year old, started playing the game a few months ago and hooked. She met another player, also from Ahmedabad, and became so close to him that she decided to divorce and live with this man, said Abhayam staff to this newspaper .
Councilor Sonal Sagathiya advised the woman to reconsider her decision. The woman was told that the man with whom she wanted to live "was not predictable," and he was not sure whether he "wanted to live with her or not." She was advised to think about it because she had to take care of a baby.
Gohil stated: "In accordance with the policy of the Abhayam hotline, the counselors did not impose a decision on the lady and simply informed her of possible options. to her. The woman said that she needed time to think about it. "
