Primal Images [19659003] Getty Images [19659004] Harrison Ford firmly rejected the idea of a future Indiana Jones because he believes that no other actor could play this role. At an appearance on The Today Show Ford stated that he was Indiana Jones and that the character was to die upon his death.
Today, the host Craig Melvin, asked Ford who he would like to see play the iconic role of the hat and bad once he finished the role, which to which Ford simply replied: nobody. "Nobody's going to be Indiana Jones, do not you understand?" He said. "I'm Indiana Jones, when I'm gone he'll be gone, it's easy."
"It's a hell of a lot to talk to Chris Pine," he continued. "I'm sorry, man." He probably wanted to talk about Chris Pratt who would have been interested in playing a younger version of the character. With the current plethora of Chrises in Hollywood, it was an easy mistake to make.
The other well-known character of Ford, Han Solo, has already received prequelquel treatment, in Solo: A Star Wars Story, with Alden Ehrenreich. Ford only had positive things to say about this film, so maybe he was more attached to Indiana than to Han.
Ford played for the first time with Indiana Jones in in Raiders of the Lost Ark, then took over the role. prequel Indiana Jones and the Cursed Temple in 1984 and his suite Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989. A fourth long-awaited installment in the franchise, Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was released in 2008 and was critically destroyed.
A fifth untitled film Indiana Jones was confirmed by the director of the series, Steven Spielberg; originally scheduled for July 2019, it has been postponed twice and is expected to be published in the summer of 2021.
