The 2019 Emmy nominations are expected to be announced on July 16, but the ballots, or submissions from the channels and streaming platforms for each category, were released on Tuesday.

HBO's flagship drama, Game of Thrones is once again presented by the network as a favorite for prizes. But what surprised the fans (after a disappointing season that has attracted much criticism) is that the series has submitted the final of the season "The Iron Throne" written by directors David Benioff and DB Weiss nominated for the best writing category.

Yes, it was the sixth episode on many "Worst Ever Finales" lists and prompted fans to ask for a complete rewrite after being terribly disappointed by how the series ended its incredible journey. GoT has stolen the Emmys series in recent years, but one can only guess why HBO would choose a much more ridiculous episode than other epics of the same season, such as "Winterfell" and "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms".

According to the Emmys' official website, "The Iron Throne" was also nominated "Best Director", which made fans even more furious. it remains to be seen if victories will result from this choice.

Meanwhile, in addition to several technical submissions, a host of last-season actors such as Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey and Maisie Williams (undoubtedly the star of the last season) have also been screened to appear in the final nomination list.
