TV star Hina Khan paraded for the first time on the red carpet of the 2019 Cannes Film Festival and impressed many people with her fashion choices and attitude. What expectations did you have to be in Cannes?
I did not know what to expect. I am not a Bollywood celebrity. I'm a TV star, so I was nervous and I did not know if people would even recognize me. I was overwhelmed by the reactions. I cried seeing all the love and support I had. Thank you everyone. I know I have to work harder now.

Tell us about your red carpet experience?
I was nervous as I walked through the Cannes red carpet for a feature film and people think of me as an icon of style, so I was wondering if I could do it right. Do I choose the right outfit? But we had been preparing for Cannes for a while. I had a good response from international designers who wanted me to wear their creations. I have more outfits than events to wear (laughs). In Cannes, I received the good advice: apart from the famous Hollywood stars, international photographers do not know most celebrities from other countries. They are looking for celebrities who show up well and have the right attitude. So, if they like you, they will continue to click on your photo. I thank the Almighty for having loved me.
Apart from the appreciation and praise from his peers and his fans, there was an unpleasant remark from a media personality, which caused an uproar among the televised fraternity. What was your reaction?
I felt discouraged to hear something like that. Why would anyone watch TV? Give us the opportunity and we will shine. If you can not say anything good, do not say it either. I have worked hard to be where I am. I know how I managed to shoot the film and my filming on TV. But, I can never play a victim because I trust myself and I will prove my worth with time, with the grace of God. And I'm grateful that so many people support me.
