Even though an impressive motor show is currently taking place in Los Angeles, an interesting little detail has escaped Europe regarding the Honda HR-V. It seems that in some markets, the sub-compact crossover uses a supercharged engine.
And it's not just a turbo engine, but the same 1.5-liter engine found in the Honda Civic. With a power of about 182 horsepower and a torque of 177 lb-ft, this seems like a great way to rid the HR-V of the slow and boring stigma that it currently has.
It seems that this turbocharger model has some reservations. It is only available with front wheel drive, although it means that it can be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission or a CVT.

Honda has done more than just endow the HR-V with a new engine. It also receives a modified suspension, including new rear and front shocks. Honda says it will improve stability and ride quality while keeping the crossing flat on corners. The steering has also been adjusted to be softer.
The interior has also been slightly raised, with a new black and red theme that gives the HR-V a much more sporty look.
It is unclear whether or not these changes will be made in North America, but that deserves reflection.
