Even though Sanju's makers celebrate the box office success of Rajkumar Hirani, the path to making Sanjay Dutt's biopic was not as easy as it seems. A new video titled "Sanju: Ranbir Kapoor at Sanjay Dutt – The Transformation" was published online, revealing why Ranbir Kapoor became Sanjay Dutt. Ranbir Kapoor plays the main role of the controversial Bollywood actor in the film but the two are not alike. And then, the challenge was to show Sanjay over a period of several decades.
The video presents the journey of the team that experimented with different looks before finally having a reflection of Sanjay at Ranbir. The magic moment where they could actually see the transformation happen is also captured in the video. The video has Hirani, Ranbir Kapoor and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra taking us through the process, the initial failures and the final success.
Hirani said in the video: "The first challenge was, how can Ranbir physically morph into Sanjay Dutt?" We then see Ranbir sweating in the gym. Ranbir shows his bruised hands as he struggles to keep up with the tough fitness regime. Ranbir was much apprehensive as to how he will look like Sanjay Dutt. He knew that Sanjay Dutt is bigger, his style is different. He really worried about not being physically like him but about feeling like him. "

Ranbir says his first reaction was to say no to Sanju." I'm not him. I can never be him. There is only one Sanjay Dutt and no one can imitate him. So, I had my fears. So we were very clear about the fact that if we fail to achieve his look, we will not make the film … The face of Sanjay Dutt has changed over the years. Because of alcohol, his face had become puffy and his chin had fallen. So I think that has added to its aging process. Tests after the tests, we failed and it is really difficult because you have to sit in a chair for six hours, hoping that "God do this job". And it's just in the space of 30 seconds that you see "it does not work" and you realize that six hours of work have been lost. "
Ranbir also talks about the serious gym that he had to undergo for the movie" To be honest, I hate the gym. I can not support it. It's a professional risk, I have to go. I did 13-14 movies and it was the first time I had the opportunity to do anything with my body. So, I took it as a challenge. It requires a lot of discipline and sacrifice. I took 8 meals a day, got up at 3 in the morning to drink a protein shake. Something I did not think I could do. Sanjay Dutt represents the epitome of bodybuilding and I could not do it. I knew that if I had to play Sanjay Dutt on the screen, the body was essential. I had some muscular look that I had never had in my life. While Sanju has become Ranbir's first Rs 200 film, collecting Rs 202.51 crore in a week, it's also the third film of Rs 200 crore. for Rajkumar Hirani after 3 Idiots and PK.
Written and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film will also feature a cast of actors in addition to Ranbir Kapoor who includes Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Vicky Kaushal, Sonam Kapoor and Dia Mirza among others.
