How Spider-Man Far From Home can configure future MCU movies

Spider-Man: Away from Home completes Phase 3 of the Marvel film universe.

Spider-Man: Away from Home is the first Marvel Cinematic Universe movie we'll have to watch after the Infinity Saga grand finale that was Avengers: Endgame. This is the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, in 2017, and continues the journey of Spidey / Peter Parker.

The plot of the film implies that Peter Parker goes on holiday in Europe, where Nick Fury faces him facing a new threat to the world called the elementals arrive. As their name indicates, the Elementals are beings with the power of different elements such as fire and water.

They are here because the fall of Thanos has dug a hole in the fabric of the universe and that these beings have come from another universe.

Quentin Beck or Mysterio, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, helps Peter. Generally a villain, Mysterio seems to be a hero here. It probably belongs also to the same universe from which the Elementals came. And he took it upon himself to destroy their threat and save the world – which does not belong to him. We suspect that he will eventually become a villain.

In any case, Far From Home, confirmed Kevin Feige, does not start Phase 4 of the MCU, but ends Phase 3. It is certainly not part of the Infinity saga. However, all the movement involving Infinity Stones and the Malthusian quest of Thanos aimed at ending half of life in the universe.

What does it mean? Probably after the huge end and importance of Endgame, the next film will have to deal with the consequences of the death of Tony Stark and Black Widow, the retirement of Captain America, the disappearance of Thor, etc.

Far From Home may also have to map a course for future films in the Marvel film universe, since Endgame has not said anything explicitly. The Marvel Studios have been curiously very discreet about what awaits them. We know of individual projects (such as Doctor Strange 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3), but how will they connect to each other?

It is almost certain that there will be a new team of superheroes who may or may not call himself New Avengers. And they will join forces to fight the next big supervillain. But we do not know how that will happen.

With the hint of multiverse in the latest trailer of Far From Home, there is a chance it can be revealed that it will be as well as X-Men and Fantastic Four, which were owned by Fox before, enter in the film world Marvel.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is expected to be released in India on July 5th.
