Hrithik Roshan returns to the big screen after two years with Super 30. In an exclusive conversation with India Today, the 45-year-old actor unveiled his latest film, Vikas Bahl's #MeToo allegations, his fight with Kangana Ranaut and more.
Since the beginning, Super 30 has been in the headlines, whether allegations of fraud on Anand Kumar or alleged harbadment by your director, Vikas Bahl?
Standing and saying that wait, we have to give the time and I think it was a very good decision to tell me to stop.
Let this film find its destination, its conclusion and then we'll decide what to do. It was a difficult call because it was not about a single person or a movie, you know it feeds 100 families, but I'm happy to have answered to the call as this has brought us to this place where we are much better. We gave him this time. We made sure that it was permissible to persist and now it puts us in an easy life.
Did the team really support?
Of course, when it's a choice between something difficult and right, you have to choose what is right. It did not matter how hard it was. Yes, it was a difficult decision, of course. I took this call on behalf of so many people without asking them. It was so difficult but I had to take it right away because it was my instinct and as I said, it was difficult but it was the right way to do things.
Kangana and her sister have been called upon time and time again. your family, among so many other people in the industry. You have always maintained that silence speaks volumes and you do not want to react, but how much is too much?
Well, I've already talked about it and I think there are a lot of others I can talk about but I would not want to say because I do not want to talk about it. I have nothing to say, I have a lot to say but I do not think I would like to say in a way that it becomes a "social exhibition". This platform is not the right one at the moment. I do not feel right, it's not a frivolous affair, it's not something I want to mix with the promotions of my movie. It's something that counts for me on a level that everyone has even understood and that's why I will choose to talk about it when the collective consciousness will be better and the state of the art will be better. Mind a little more evolved.
But do not you think that silence can be misinterpreted?
No matter what you interpret, it is your right and your opinion. I know where I'm going. I know where my destination is and that's all I want to say, sorry to mix that with the movie, but what Anand sir was doing, he was left to the right and center to have it said, what he was doing is wrong. Whether it was his girlfriend or even his brother, no one understood what he was doing, but he kept on building. There is resilience in that, I believe in that, I believe in resilience. I believe that every drop makes the ocean. People say it, people hear it, people praise that phrase, but I really believe it because it's the only way I've learned to survive. Each drop will build the ocean, so it will be slow and steady. It's a drop at a time, but if all the ocean is in the same drop if you believe that one day, things will look like an ocean.
But how do you navigate when he strikes near you and your family, Sister Sunaina and father are targeted, so that does not annoy you?
They are not involved in that. It's something intimate and sensitive, if you've understood it perfectly and I do not know if, without having understood it, should you ask the question without all that be understood. It's a private matter and I would just like to say that everything is fine.
