The Income Tax Department has launched an "instantaneous" AADHAAR-based PAN allocation service for people seeking to obtain unique identity for the first time
"This installation is free and e-PAN's instant allocation is available only for a limited period on a first-come, first-served basis for valid Aadhaar holders," said the department in a recent opinion.
A senior official stated that the new facility was created in view of the growing number of people asking for the permanent account number (PAN) for their financial and tax affairs.
A new PAN will be badigned on the basis of a one-time pbadword (OTP) sent on the "active mobile number" related to the valid Aadhaar number of a person, the notice said.
The new PAN, obtained by this mechanism, will have the same name, date of birth, gender, cell number and address that is present in the Aadhaar of the individual he says.
"The e-PAN facility is reserved for residents and not for the Undivided Undivided Family (HUF), businesses, trusts, corporations, etc.," he says.
Once the PAN has been badigned to an applicant by its electronic Aadhaar Verification system-based verification system in seconds, the applicant will be sent the PAN card by mail in a certain time, said the official. he said.
The process can be done at the official portal of the department –https: //www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.
