In another attempt to keep afloat its IGTV feature supporting long videos, the photo messaging application belonging to Facebook, Instagram, added support for videos shot in landscape mode.
"We have heard from creators who want to download landscape videos for IGTV. In the same way, we have heard viewers watching videos of landscapes in IGTV but wanting to look at them in a more natural way. That's why we're announcing support for landscape videos in addition to vertical videos, "the company wrote in an article on his blog on Thursday.
According to Instagram, it was necessary to make IGTV more free of a platform allowing the creators to express themselves as they wish.
"The landscape has its strengths, especially in formats such as dance and sports that are very lively and often have a handful of people in a frame," he said.
Launched in 2018, the IGTV long-life video concentrator, which resides both in a home screen button in Instagram and in a standalone application, has failed to garner the expected answer.
Recently, Instagram copied TikTok and Snapchat in terms of using artificial intelligence (AI) and interface design on IGTV.
Earlier in February, the app had added previews of IGTV videos in the main feeds of the home page.
