THE RUNDOWN: Writer-director Christopher McQuarrie maintains the franchise pulling on all the cylinders while effectively highlighting, to a greater degree than in the previous "M: I" movies, the IMF team's work as much as Ethan's derring-do solo. The most memorable sequence is both low-tech and highly suspenseful, an ingeniously supported skirmish, cleverly Hitchbadian backstage during a performance in a Vienna opera. (The bad guys want to murder someone, Ethan does not want anyone to be murdered.) And it's nice to see that Ethan is not the only one to get himself Kicking Ass In A Final Showdown: Ferguson's Ilsa Faust is a knockout as it causes serious bodily injury to a villain who stupidly silly things for just another pretty face.

1. Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018)

LE PAS: Ethan again discusses a hostile bid attempt as new CIA boss Erica Sloan (Angela Bbadett) demands that his handpicked agent, August Walker (Henry Cavill), surrender to observe and to point out (and perhaps even eliminate) while our hero is attempting to recover three plutonium nuclei seized by the Apostles, an offshoot of The Syndicate (see "Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation").

THE RUNDOWN: The latest and best entry in the current franchise can certainly be a source of excitement and sensational acrobatics. But for those following the adventures of Ethan Hunt for 22 years, "Fallout "is all the more satisfying a cinematic clbad meeting, with sharp hints at the images and incidents of the previous" M: I "movies (note the resumption of Ethan's climb since the Opening of "M: I2") and welcome the return appearances for a long time and recently introduced regulars of the series.
