The 2019 Spirit Awards began with a cult sketch featuring host Aubrey Plaza sacrificing the star of Stranger Things Finn Wolfhard, in order to channel the spirit of the Spirit Awards. In the dark and funny sketch, Plaza was accompanied by her other actresses, Marcia Gay Harden, Christina Ricci, Rosanna Arquette, Sharon Stone and Marisa Tomei, while the star of Atlanta in Atlanta watched in horror. Henry had accidentally stumbled over the sacrifice, which he said was going to be a party.
This sketch was then used to support Henry and his co-presenter, as well as the star of This is Us Sterling K.
