India-based documentary wins at the Oscars, Bradley Cooper, winner of Best Picture for Green Book, loses Best Actor award at Rami Malek

The 91st Academy Awards were a real pleasure for India as a documentary based on the UP . End of sentence came out winner of the short category of best documentary. The Indian producer Guneet Monga, producer of the film, hoped that this victory would lead to a better access of women to menstrual hygiene.

The film, directed by US-Iranian director Rayka Zehtabchi, was co-produced by Indian producer Guneet Monga, Sikhya Entertainment. The documentary is based on the subject of deep stigma badociated with menstruation.

Alfonso Cuaron won two Oscars for Roma one in the best cinematography and the other in the best foreign language film. As the world celebrated with the winners, the disappointment was not lost for many, especially the snubbed contenders. Olivia Colman ( The Favorite ) overshadowed Glenn Close ( The Woman ) to win the Best Actress Award in a Leading Role, while A Star was Born managed to win a single Oscar trophy for the best original song Shallow .
