After a stunning 11-0 win over Oman in their first game of the 2018 Asian Men's Championship Trophy, defending champion India will face Pakistan, their rival in the standings, in their second match of the tournament at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat Saturday. In their first match of the tournament round-robin, India, five-time champion, defeated the home team in a one-sided encounter. Young striker Dilpreet Singh was the star of the tournament's first game for India, scoring a hat trick. Of the 11 goals that India had scored in their first match, five of them came from the penalty corner.
India was slowly starting the competition with a scoreless goal, but they accelerated as the match progressed. India coach Harendra Singh said he was happy with his victory but also suggested working in some areas of the game as the competition progressed.
Pakistan, for its part, will play its first match of the tournament against South Korea on Friday. Currently ranked 13th, Muhammad Rizwan and his team are expecting a winning start for this crucial meeting against India.
The two countries clashed for the last time in the bronze medal match at the 2018 Asian Games, where India beat Pakistan 2- 1.
