Shaw played well in the practice game, scoring 11 goals in his heats. Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Hanuma Vihari marked the half-centuries that preceded India for 358. The first day of the four-day match was abandoned because of the rain.

Prithvi Shaw has only played 17 first-clbad matches during his career, but he is well known in Indian cricket for several years. He scored 1,767 points in first clbad with an average of 60.93 and an attack rate of 78.81. The Mumbai drummer began his test career with a century in his first try against the West Indies in October.
